Downtown Greenwich is popular for those who like in-town, high-density, almost New York City-style living. Geographically, Downtown encompasses all the neighborhoods south of Putnam Avenue from the eastern end of Millbrook to the west side of Field Point Road, including all points down to the end of Steamboat Road. Property zoning allows for denser settings close to the commercial areas and large parcels on an acre or more in the areas of Indian Harbor, Milbrook and nearby Mead Point, the private association areas in this region. In the Milbrook area is the the Milbrook Club that offers a full clubhouse, pool, tennis courts, paddle courts and a nine hole golf course. Access to the club requires a formal membership. For condominium living, there are approximately 50 downtown complexes with a total of 1,043 condominium units. They range from 800-square-foot studio apartments to large 4,000-square-foot units. A few on Steamboat Road can feature either boat moorings, slips or water access. Shopping and restaurants on well known Greenwich Avenue are only blocks away (or less) from many downtown locations and less than a mile away from the outer fringes of the area.
